3-day champ Sean Anderson has won $71,600 thus far. Today he takes on these two players: Nikki Grillos, from New York, NY; and Chris Lastrapes, from Tulsa, OK.
Nikki got the last clue on the board in the Jeopardy! round and it was the Daily Double under “Concert Halls” ($800). She was in the lead with $5,400, $1,200 more than Chris in second place. She bet $800 and took a guess with Grieg. That was WRONG.

Nikki finished in the lead with $4,600. Chris was second with $4,200 and Sean was last with $800.
Nikki found the first Double Jeopardy Daily Double in “Book Subtitles” under the $800 clue. She was in the lead with $7,400 now, $3,200 more than Chris in second place. She bet $1,000 and somehow came up with 88. That was WRONG.

Sean found the last Daily Double in “Neo Geo” under the $1,200 clue. He’d been hard at work and was in second place with $6,000, $2,000 behind Nikki’s lead. He bet $2,000 and he was RIGHT.

Crazy ups and downs at the end of the round resulted in Sean finishing in the lead with $8,400. Nikki was next with $7,600 and Chris was in third place with $7,400.
Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.
Denial is at the top of the list in The Essential Guide to Defense Mechanisms: “We’ll take a look at the 9 most common defense mechanisms but first, let’s set the record straight on two counts. Chris came up with “childish.” He lost his $5,700 bet and finished with $1,700.
Nikki got it right. Her $7,201 bet brought her up to $14,801.
Sean wrote down “avoidance.” That cost him $6,801 and he ended up with $1,599. And that made Nikki Grillos the new Jeopardy! champ. Congrats to Nikki, especially on getting FJ right (but where did “88” on that subtitle DD come from??).
During the chat, Nikki shared the highlight of her trip to the Galapagos: snorkeling with sharks (not too big ones), seal turtles, dolphins… “it was incredible,” she said. Alex mentioned that they went down there with the Clue Crew a couple of years ago, and you can see on the old recap for today that they were giving away a trip to Galapagos.

I’m glad that Sean lost. I still hope it’s the same way for the Tournament of Champions which is one and a half weeks away from now.
Nikki might have thought 88 was the approximate age of Shrub Sr.(he’s 91) 42/60 here.

What I’m thinking for the 88 is she was thinking about his age (which by the way is actually 89). I’m glad that (I checked my calendar, not so sure) Elliot is going to the ToC. Now’s time for Michael’s lock.
