The Soviets decided to place ballistic missiles in Cuba in response to missiles the USA had placed in Turkey and Italy. U.S. President John F. Kennedy (JFK) imposed a naval “quarantine” around Cuba to prevent delivery of missiles. The Lebanese freighter passed cargo inspection and was allowed through. The Soviet cargo ship Kislovodsk elected to turn back. JFK and Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev ended the standoff by mutual agreement to remove their missiles and a promise from the USA not to invade Cuba.

    With 3 games left this season, Grace could wrap up Season 42 as a 4 day champion. I was not expecting a big 10,000 Daily Double from Grace but that was the right thing to do put the game away.
