WHAT ARE SENATORS or U.S. SENATORS?
From the U.S. Senate’s website: “Ratification of the U.S. Constitution in 1788 led to a transition from the Congress under the Articles of Confederation to a new federal government. On September 13, 1788, that soon-to-expire Congress issued an ordinance giving states the authority to conduct elections for their senators and representatives. On September 30, 1788, Pennsylvania became the first state to elect its two senators.”
There’s a bit more info on the Keystone State’s first Senators on The Senate Eight page: William Maclay kept “the only detailed record of what happened behind the Senate’s closed doors during the precedent-setting First Congress.” Robert Morris, one of the young nation’s richest men, “had helped to finance the American Revolution and signed both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.”
Aline thought it was delegates to the Constitutional Convention. She bet and lost it all.
Ray got it right. He bet $10,195 and finished with $20,395.
Jonathan also got it right. He bet $900 and won the game with $24,000. His 4-day total is $94,000. Go, Jonathan — winning this 4th game makes him eligible for a spot in the next ToC and a rematch with Matt Amodio! Expect to see Jonathan on Jeopardy!’s ToC Tracker soon.

This is the second time we got a giant killer in Jonathan Fisher getting a streak going after beating Matt since Emma boettcher faced James in the last tournament of Champions. Aline couldn’t get much going today as the gentlemen were way too quick on the buzzer. If Jon wins game 5 tomorrow it will be a great rematch later on. Are you also a fan of celion dion and her song that’s the way it is?
Lou, if you look at the ToC Tracker, Jonathan is already eligible for the ToC with this game. Here’s what it says: “*All 4-time and over winning players starting from 01/05/21 will be eligible for a future Tournament of Champions.” I take that to mean that 3x winners are no longer eligible for an invitation and there’s no such thing as a guaranteed spot anymore because it also says “Presence on this list does NOT guarantee an invitation ….”
Non, non, non, I am not a fan of Celine Dion. I like to sing along with songs I like. 🤣🤣
Funny stuff today — I knew that Peck’s triple stumper because my father used to call my older brother that. I didn’t really know what it meant but I didn’t think it was good. When I found out what it meant, for some reason, it seemed to me that his father or another older relative must have called my father that when he was a boy and he was passing it on. 🤣🤣
The night before last, our internet and cable TV went out all night and I switched to antenna TV. The channel I was watching was playing all old sitcoms and they had a couple of episodes of the Findlay show with Bea Arthur playing Edith Bunker’s cousin.
