WHO IS YOGI BERRA?

Yogi Berra spent most of his career as a catcher for the New York Yankees. He continues to be as famous for his malapropisms and sayings (aka Yogi-isms) as he is for his legendary career. On July 15, 1980, Cincinnati Reds’ catcher Johnny Bench broke Yogi’s record for most home runs by a catcher. On September 23, 2015, the day after Yogi Berra passed away, Johnny Bench sent out a tweet accompanied by a copy of the telegram he received from Yogi that contains the quote referenced in today’s Final Jeopardy!

I didn’t appreciate the first clue in Triple Rhyme Time, VJ!

    • VJ says:

hahaha, Rhonda, maybe you will if you take it to mean the reason they needed spare hare snares was because the hare always got away 🤣

  3. Lou says:

The famous Yogi berra has helped everyone here today. A triple solve is just what we needed. This will definitely give Jon an advantage for that fourth win hopefully tomorrow. Although that first daily double wasn’t nailed, we got strong opponents for Jon today. Never forget Yogi Berra! Maybe the sports trivia will have a question or two about Yogi later on for me. Good game by all the players. Jon seems to be following Matt’s playing style don’t you think vj?

    • VJ says:

No, Lou, I don’t think Jonathan is following Matt’s playing style. I don’t see him going across the 2 bottom rows first, do you?

      • Lou says:

No I don’t seen him doing it though in the double jeopardy round he tried a few bottom clues and missed a few but not sure which ones. Do you have the links to those missed clues VJ?

        • VJ says:

On Page 2 of the recap, there are 3 last row clues that nobody got — the $1000 clue in HODGEPODGE and the $2000 clues in ’80s TV and TRIPLE RHYME TIME.

Mayim said “great game” and that is so true. the games are again exciting and worth watching.

  5. klm says:

I was about to criticize Mary for her wager but then I reconsidered. I think she bet strategically, but Jonathan’s bet was not smart in case Mary had doubled up.

    • Albert says:

They both bet badly. Both should have bet for the win in Final. Maybe the topic of Sports intimidated them. The clue could easily have been titled Americana. If the clue was Americana maybe one or both would have gone for the win.

  6. JP says:

[Insert Yogi Berra quote that could relate to today’s game here]

    • VJ says:

How about “It ain’t’ over till its over”? I think that covers the competitive aspect of this game klm commented on. It looked like Mary was taking over. She played a strong game despite missing her DD. Shakespeare’s Insults turned the tide for Jonathan, but Mary still managed to snag one clue in that category. 😁

There was another Yogi FJ! back on 3-20-16 that had a link to a list of 50 Yogi-isms. No. 2 was the Quote of the Day on Monday. The quote in today’s FJ! is No. 10.

    • Albert says:

Yogi would have said, *If I knew the answer I would have bet everything.”
