I thought the contestant said ‘Rock the Vote’ instead of ‘Rock the Boat’, but I may have misheard lol

Surprised at the double-stumper in FJ. I have written about “Fred Doug”‘s house in SE DC though I have never been there and in 2020 finally read his harrowing book-length account of being enslaved. Some of the Jeopardy round and Double Jeopardy round clues were frankly much harder than this was–to me at least.

  3. Jason says:

Oh, and, I totally got a laugh when Amy said “dragon” for krait! If you don’t know, a “krayt dragon” is from the Star Wars universe!

  4. Rick says:

That was one tough finale, and I was certainly stumped. Actually, I was only surprised that no one came up with the Redd Foxx show earlier in the game which was a very popular sitcom.

  5. VJ says:

Regarding the “extra s” part of the clue, I could find no corroboration that Frederick Douglass “added it for distinction” unless it means he was consciously trying to elevate his social status. A 2018 book “Frederick Douglass and Scotland, 1846” by Alasdair Pettinger states: “We don’t know for sure why the surname of Walter Scott’s James Douglas [Ellen’s father] acquired an extra ‘s’,” noting a biographer’s suggestion that it was the way prominent black families in the North spelled the surname.

It is also noted that the 1840 Federal Census shows that the surname “Douglass was 3x more common in the USA than ‘Douglas'”. That makes sense to me as a way to distinguish first and last names.

  6. Ismael Gomez says:

Disappointed episode as all 3 DDs were missed resulted our first skunking in over a month.

  7. aaaa says:

I got $12K in Triple Stumper clues, including the first round DD. Amy had $23K going into FJ and got FJ! wrong. Interesting.

  8. VJ says:

I hope someone gets today’s players to watch an episode or two of that Redd Foxx sitcom. When my NJ granddaughter (age 20) was down here last year, I shared 3 classic sitcoms with her, just so she would know about them: the Redd Foxx sitcom, I Dream of Jeannie & The Beverly Hillbillies. She said Redd Foxx was the funniest, hands down!

    • Louis Jin says:

Those sitcoms were my childhood favorites vj. I dream of Jeannie and bewitched plus red Foxx not to mention beverly hillbillies. Difficult board for double jeopardy so it’s no surprise Amy missed this final. But still is she getting a bit tired? We got our first daily double skunking for the new year. I hope Amy can make a comeback tomorrow

      • Ismael Gomez says:

If William Weyser was here, he would say darn those daily doubles.

      • Jason says:

Louis that was the vibe I was picking up – getting tired. I believe it was Arthur Chu who said that it was tiring.

I shall admit, I was, at first, stumped, but, the FJ did come to mind. However, I would have been VERY close.
