Kristen found the Jeopardy! round Daily Double in “Bestselling Fiction” under the $800 clue on the 4th pick of the round. She was tied in second place with Brian at $600, $400 less than James’ lead. Kristen bet $1,000 and she was RIGHT.

Brian finished in the lead with $5,000. James was second with $4,600 and Kristen was last with $800. All clues were shown.

Brian found the first Daily Double in “Revolutionaries” under the $1,200 clue on the 2nd pick of the round. He was in the lead with $6,600, $2,000 more than James in second place. Brian bet $6,000 and said Italian summer. That was WRONG.

James found the last Daily Double in “Big ‘W’” under the $1,200 clue on the 10th pick of the round. He was in second place with $5,800, $600 less than Kristen’s lead. James made it a true Daily Double and he was RIGHT.

WHO IS MARY SHELLEY

Mary Shelley’s most famous work and the topic of many a Jeopardy! clue is “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus” (1818). She also wrote “The Mortal Immortal” and other short stories for “The Keepsake”, an annual gift book that published short stories, poems and essays. Shelley, Coleridge and Wordsworth were some of the well-known writers who contributed to the publication.

Winzy, the main character in the “The Mortal Immortal” (1833), narrates the tale of how he became immortal accidentally and found out that it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Read the story online.

    I, nearly immediately, thought of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, sort of instinctively. Nearing the end of the music, I thought in the other direction of time, and wondered, “Maybe LM Alcott?” but, I stuck with Shelley. Ever upwards!

    1/3 on DD. Ironically, the only one I got was the Updike; ironic, because, I’ve never read anything by that guy!

    I thought both challengers were good; Brian seemed to really be coming on strong, but the DD miss took the wind out of his sails.

    Ken got hung up on Kristen’s interview story. He seemed to linger longer than usual.

    Kristen might also be a second chancer.
