Leon Draisaitl Scores Four Goals in Edmonton’s 8-3 Rout of Nashville

Edmonton Oilers center Leon Draisaitl scored four goals in a game for the first time in his career as the Oilers beat the host Nashville Predators 8-3 on March 2nd. Draisaitl added an assist for a five point night.

Draisaitl now has career highs in points (107) and assists (64). He leads the NHL in both of those through games of March 2nd. His 43 goals are fourth in the league. Draisaitl wasn’t the only Oiler with five points; teammate Connor McDavid had a goal and four assists. McDavid has missed a few games this season with injuries, but still has 32 goals and 62 assists; his 94 point are second in the NHL only to Draisaitl’s 107. This 1-2 punch of offense has been a big part of Edmonton’s success this season. The Oilers are second in the Pacific Division with 78 points, two behind the Vegas Golden Knights. Last season, Edmonton had the second worst record in the Western Conference. This year, barring a monumental collapse, Edmonton will make it to the playoffs for the first time since the ’16-’17 season and only the second time since the ’05-’06 season, when they lost to Carolina in the Stanley Cup Finals.
