Dodgers Win Fifth Straight, Open Up 6 1/2 Game Lead on Giants

Clayton Kershaw returned from the injured list and pitched five good innings as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 2-1 at Dodger Stadium on August 10th. It was Kershaw’s first appearance since June 27th; that was also against the Rockies. Kershaw allowed three hits, one earned run, and one walk in the no decision. The victory went to reliever Ryan Yarbrough, who pitched three scoreless innings. The Rockies’ Daniel Bard walked Max Muncy with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth for what proved to be the winning run.

With this victory, the Dodgers (68-46) have won five in a row and nine of 10. They lead the second place San Francisco Giants (62-53) by six and half games. The third place Arizona Diamondbacks (57-58), an early season surprise, are in a free fall. The Diamondbacks have lost eight in a row and are just 5-19 since the All-Star break.
