Carnie Wilson on The Talk and Subsequent Jeopardy! Clues

We just saw a news item about Carnie Wilson’s visit to The Talk back on November 18. During the opening segment, Carnie, who is 1/3 of 90s pop group Wilson Phillips, and one of the daughters of Beach Boy, Brian Wilson, made some remarks about Alec Baldwin and his famous temper. The topic of Baldwin’s latest outburst, where he profanely called a photographer a homophobic slur, was being discussed and Carnie pointed out: “I know this family very well. This man just has no control over what comes out of his mouth. I don’t think he cares, to be honest with you.”

The other members of Wilson Phillips are Carnie’s sister, Wendy, and Chynna Phillips, the daughter of John Phillips and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas. Chynna, who is married to Billy Baldwin, is also Alec Baldwin’s sister-in-law. Having established her bona fides, Carnie went on to say: “He’s this wonderful actor and he keeps getting hired, but gosh, I wonder if people are gonna keep hiring him if he keeps offending people. It’s just not right.” We’re sure Alec Baldwin was thrilled and we’re sure Carnie’s ears were ringing later, but what we’re really trying to get to is this:

In a weird coincidence, there were two very recent Jeopardy clues about both “The Talk” and about Wilson Phillips. On November 28, in the category “Show Biz Stupid Answers,” the $200 clue was “Julie Chen & Sara Gilbert give their view as 2 of the co-hosts of this talk show”. One of the contestants rang in and said “The View” but Chen and Gilbert are not on that show. The current champ then rang in and also said “The View” (which is why anyone even remembers the incident).

Then on December 2nd, Wilson Phillips was the answer in the Final Jeopardy! category “Pop Groups.” None of the contestants got that right either.

Makes you wonder if one of the Jeopardy! clue writers saw that episode of The Talk and got two Triple Stumper clues out of it. Carnie wasn’t just there to talk about her bandmate’s brother-in-law. She did some cooking so they probably also learned to make pumpkin bread pudding, too.
