Aroldis Chapman Returns From Injury in Top Form

Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman, who was hit in the head by a line drive in spring training back on March 19th, made his season debut against the Colorado Rockies on May 11th.  Chapman had a suffered a broken nose and a skull fracture requiring surgery, and missed about two months.  He didn’t look too good in some rehab appearances in the minors, but the Reds thought he was ready anyway.

Good call.  Chapman walked Troy Tulowitzki but then struck out Carlos Gomez, Nolan Arenado, and Justin Morneau to earn the save:

The Rockies lineup has been sizzling hot at the plate, and none of those batters is an easy out.  Chapman was clocked at over 100 miles per hour on several pitches Yeah, we’d say he’s back.
