American Idol Top 7 Elimination Show

American Idol Top 7

Well, look at us. We got the Bottom 2 right. The first 3 of the Top 7 American Idols to learn their fate in the 4/17/14 Top 7 Elimination Round of American Idol 13  were Jena, Alex and Dexter. As they replayed parts of their performances, Randy Jackson offered his commentary. He said Dexter has a pretty powerful rangy voice and needs to take some chances. Alex is developing into a great artist. Jena, Randy said, is the one to beat right. “Everybody else, step up to the plate. C’mon.”

Jena and Alex were sent to safety and Dexter went to the stools.

CJ did a great job but Randy wants him to take more vocal liberties and just nail it. Randy seemed concerned that Jessica wouldn’t fare too well with the voters with that Miranda Lambert number. (Doesn’t he already know the results?) If Sam sticks around, he will have to give a winning performance, Randy said, and he gave Caleb an A for being consistent every week.

Caleb and CJ were sent to safety first. You gotta feel almost bad for Sam, looking like he’s thinking “it ain’t me” when Ryan says “let’s see who is certain to move on in the competition.” But it was him and Sam was sent to safety while Jessica found herself in the Bottom 2 for the first time.

Dexter Roberts

Dexter got the lowest votes and sang “Lucky Man” for his swan song.

Well, Jessica better go listen and dance to that funk music Harry Connick Jr. was telling her about or the audience may continue to perceive her as not trying as hard as Sam and CJ; and the Top 5 will end up with just one girl. Right now, we’ve got these Top 6:

Alex Preston, CJ Harris, Caleb Johnson, Jena Irene, Jessica Meuse, and Sam Woolf – 4 guys and 2 girls.
