Alabama Remains at #1 in AP College Football Poll, Penn State Moves up to #2
Alabama (7-0) is again a unanimous #1 in the AP College Football Poll following a 41-9 thrashing of Arkansas on October 14th. The Crimson Tide have won in dominating fashion this season. In its last four games, Alabama has beaten Vanderbilt 59-0, Mississippi 66-3, then a closer win (27-19) over Texas A & M before that 41-9 win over Arkansas.
Clemson’s loss has dropped the Tigers (6-1) to #7 in the poll. The new number 2 is Penn State (6-0), followed by Georgia (7-0) at #3. The Bulldogs have been as dominating as fellow SEC Alabama this season. Georgia beat Missouri 53-28 last weekend, and beat then #17 Mississippi State 31-3, shutout Tennessee 41-0 and beat Vanderbilt 45-14. The Bulldogs also handed Notre Dame its only loss to date 20-19 on September 9th.
TCU (6-0)moved up two spots to # 4, followed by 6-0 Wisconsin at #5 at 6-1 Ohio State at #6. The Buckeyes lost to Oklahoma 31-16 in their second game of the season, and have taken it out on the opposition ever since. They won at Nebraska 56-14 last Saturday as QB J.T. Barrett threw five touchdown passes and ran for two more.
Miami (5-0) is #8 this week, and the State of Oklahoma rounds out the Top 10, with Oklahoma followed by Oklahoma State. Both are 5-1. Some notable drop offs in the rest of the Top 25 include Washington (6-1) dropping seven places to #12 following its 13-7 loss at Arizona State, and cross state rival Washington State (6-1) also dropping seven spots to #15 after getting pummeled at California 37-3. Auburn (5-2) had the biggest drop, 11 spots, down to #21 after losing 27-23 at LSU.
