In the 1940s, brothers Dick and Mac McDonald decided to streamline their restaurant business, McDonald’s Barbeque, by simplifying their menu, lowering their prices and allowing customers to serve themselves. They shortened the name to just McDonald’s and became even more successful than they already were. You can see Dick McDonald’s entire quote on KCET.org’s article, “The Real McDonald’s: The San Bernardino Origins of a Fast Food Empire”. It also goes into how and when Ray Kroc entered the picture.
“The Real Founder” is a 49-minute 2018 documentary with Dick McDonald that is free to Amazon Prime subscribers. Nick Offerman portrayed Dick McDonald in the 2016 film “The Founder”. You can watch that for free on IMDB TV, by registering on their site (also free).

Big fan of Jennifer’s and hope she goes far…
WOW! Jennifer is getting close to the Hall of Fame.
Finally we get a triple solve after a week double and single gets in final jeopardy. And with that 200K in eight games for Jennifer, she Still needs 28K to get to Seth Wilson’s score. I am very pleased, and would like this triple solve to continue next week. By the way VJ, how often do you eat at McDonald’s? I only eat fast food once in a while and have you tried out popeyes?
I’m not that big on fast food, Lou, but I do like McDonald’s apple pies. I think it’s Wendy’s that has a salad I like with apples and pecans though I don’t like the kind of cheese they put on it much.
