WHAT ARE THE RHINE & THE DANUBE?
RomanFrontiers.eu explains: “The great rivers of the Rhine and the Danube defined the edge of the Roman Empire in much of Europe. These great river frontiers were as important for trade, communications and supply both within and across the Empire and with the Empire’s ‘Barbarian’ neighbours as they were for defence or controlling movements of people.” Also see Limes Germanicus on Wikipedia.
Here’s an old 2012 clue on one of THE RIVER OF HISTORY: ($400) It was a border of the Roman Empire, & outposts like Singidunum (now Belgrade) were built along it.
Kathleen got it right. She bet $2,195, to finish with $4,395.
Jeff had the Rhone & the Rhine. He didn’t bet anything so he stayed at $6,800.
Emily thought it was the Rhine & the Elbe. She lost her $1,999, but won the game with the remaining $13,601. Her 3-day total is $62,503.

VJ, were you ever on the show or ever get an in-person audition?
No, Albert, I have never had any ambition to be on the show. I know my limitations. I am one of those people who is just terrible when it comes to some subjects, like math, sciences and sports.
Well, that was easy for me, but only ONE got it right. You have to think of what two rivers border Germany, and the FJ! answer bordered both of them: Danube to the southeast, which shared a border with Austria, and Rhine to the southwest, which shared a border with the Low Countries and France. The other two wrote down the correct one, but incorrect on the other. Anyway, with Emily Frey’s $62,503, one more win for her and Erik Aggard is OUT.
Btw, the “Before and After clues…?” Really cute, but the writers have DEFINITELY too much time on their hands. They should rather make sure that FJ clues are straight and clear and not ambiguous, as they not quite rarely (don’t want to say “often”…oops!) are. Distractions and “Red Herrings”..fine. But the core should be clear. Same with DDs. Sorry, but there are priorities imo. Get to the funny stuff once you got everything else (and especially important stuff) right. I know, I am criticizing again, but then they get paid for it and don’t do anything else. Plus, I paid them a compliment first…..😏
Don’t be a killjoy, John. The show would be a lot less entertaining without the amusing word play categories. (I could do with a little less video categories though)
I really and truly wish the show would 100% eliminate the ‘Stupid Answers’ category. I hate that category sooooo much. The category is sooooo STUPID.
@ Albert
I guess that’s why they call them “Stupid Answers”….🙄
Agreed, Albert. That one is a big waste.
@VJ, I said the B&A clues are cute…!!! I was serious for a change. And I agree: the videos kill time and then clues are left over, even worse when a DD is missing. Could change the entire game.
Very easy final jeopardy though I wish Jeff had bet at least 1500 on that daily double and not the full amount. Although a win is a win for Emily, Kathy struggled to get some rhythm going but still though glad she got final right. If the other two contestants only have heard of the Blue Danube song, they would have gotten this, right VJ and John? I think Emily might win game four tomorrow.
@Lou, I would say that Jeff did what he had to do there. It’s just kind of painful to watch one player take their best shot and lose it all, then the other DD turns up under an $800 clue and is easy as pie. I know I would feel like “why didn’t I get that one!” I’m sure they all heard of the Blue Danube. Two of them just eliminated it for some reason.

@VJ and Lou, I’m pretty sure too they’ve heard it. Maybe they couldn’t put a name to it. I’m into classical music, yet sometimes I have to think real hard how do Vivaldi’s 4 seasons parts start….The Blue Danube is not something you hear every day.
