Cooper Flagg Scores Career High 42 Points, but Mavericks Lose in Overtime

Cooper Flagg, the overall #1 draft pick in the 2025 NBA draft, scored a career high 42 points with seven rebounds, six assists, and two blocked shots in the Mavericks’ December 15th game at Utah, but the Jazz prevailed in overtime 140-133.

Flagg, who turns 19 on December 21st, set a record for most points by an 18 year old in an NBA game, breaking the record held by LeBron James, who scored 37 in a game in 2003. He’s also the youngest player to score 40 in an NBA game. Flagg is now averaging 18.4 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game for the season. In December, he’s up to 24.2 points per game, in six games.

Dallas (10-17) is in action again on December 18th, hosting the 21-5 Detroit Pistons.
