WHAT IS THE HOMESTEAD ACT?
The Homestead Act of 1862 allowed individuals to claim public land for a small fee if they met certain requirements. The Act was repealed in 1976, but a special provision allowed homesteading to continue in Alaska until 1986. In 1988, Kenneth Deardorff became the last person to receive a homestead under the Homestead Act of 1862, as amended.
According to Deardorff’s page on the National Park Service website, he filed his homestead claim in 1974 and completed all of the legal requirements in 1979. It took another 9 years for the slow-moving wheels of bureaucracy to deliver the title to his 80-acre homestead on the Stony River in southwestern Alaska. “One day,” he said, “it just appeared in the mail.”
Lindsay had no response. She lost $4,001 and finished with $2,199.
Ferdinand got it right. He bet $9,201 and finished with $19,401.
Sam also got it right. He bet $1,001 and won the game with $20,401. Sam will duke it out with Enzo Cunanan and Drew Goins for the big money the rest of the week.

I didn’t know the county that the Bay Area airport was in. That’s what threw me off that one
2/3 on DD, but missed FJ. All I could come up with was “Manifest Destiny”.
Good game. Lindsay woke up late to make it a 3-way race.
I though FJ was pretty easy. But one of those clues you really couldn’t guess at if you didn’t know it.
Until Sam guessed Hong Kong, I thought the first DD was a lead pipe cinch. It sure was easier than the middle DD.
Figured at least one of them would know the Bay Area airport code and what OMB stands for.
I did above average in the game, but flubbed the FJ once again. Anyways, the first thing that came to my mind was the Seward Act since one of the clues alluded to Alaska.
