WHO IS MADONNA?

On August 2022, it was widely announced that Madonna was adding another rare feat to her list of record-breaking achievements. The Detroit News reported that “The Queen of Pop made history this week by becoming the first woman to have a top 10 album in each decade since the 1980s,” when the Material Girl’s remix compilation “Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones” debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s Sept. 3 chart.

The album contains “some of Madonna’s favorite remixes of her record-breaking 50 No. 1s on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs chart — the only artist with 50 No. 1s on any single Billboard chart.”

Madonna had 5 Top 10 albums in the 1980s; 7 in the 1990s; 6 in the 2000s; and 4 in the 2010s. The release of “Finally Enough Love” brought her total to 23 Top 10 albums to date, 9 of which went to No. 1. The Detroit News has the names of all 23 albums.

Connor bet $223 and finished with $2,023. “Happy New Year,” Ken quipped.

Andrew didn’t bet anything, standing pat on $20,800.

Yogesh bet $10,801 and won the game with $41,601. Yogesh Raut is the new Jeopardy! champ.

how was Yogesh’s final Jeopardy answer accepted? it was beyond illegible after the “Mad”.

Did anybody else guess Dolly Parton?

    • VJ says:

She never crossed my mind but I would have rejected her if she did because I associate Dolly with the 70s — I used to watch her 70s TV show where she signed off with “I Will Always Love You.”

She was mainly country then and didn’t cross over to pop until the late 70s.

    • William says:

me too! since i heard she released a rock album for the first time last month.

Holy cow, those two Illinoisans came out smoking and left Connor in the dust.

I wonder how long it’s been since we’ve had 3 men or 3 women on the same non-tournament show. Doesn’t seem to happen all that often.

Most players hide their signaling devices behind the podium or their backs. Yogesh had his resting on the podium and seemed to be holding it in place with his left hand. Also, he was using his index finger to ring in, whereas most (I’d guess) use the thumb. I read years ago that the index finger allegedly is faster than the thumb to react.

Andrew’s FJ wager of $0 seemed odd, but he knew Yogesh had to wager $10801 or more and get it wrong, so it made sense.

I don’t predict or hope for streaks (I’d rather see close games, regardless of who prevails), but Yogesh could be at that first podium for awhile.

Howard, I guess it is rare nowadays — the last regular game with 3 men that I found was on 10/13/2022, Chris Pannullo’s 10th game. Strange — I don’t recall it being that rare during Trebek’s reign.

      • Richard Corliss says:

Did you hear the news, VJ? Next month there’s gonna be a High School Reunion Tournament with 27 former Teen Tournament contestants from Season 35. And yesterday, the news has announced there’s gonna be a Masters championship.

        • VJ says:

Yes, thank you, Richard. I have heard about it and I will put the events on the What to Expect post on the weekend.

I don’t know if I’m going to watch them though. They are really going overboard with these tournaments, if you ask me. If I knew they were going to do this, I would have skipped recapping Celebrity Jeopardy! (I don’t like that 3-round format)

Today for the first time in a really long time, the long credit roll is finally back. When was the last time in regular play we had a long credit roll?
