Recap of Season 1, Episode 1 – I’m about to shock the world

Fletch Walcott from Las Vegas was the first contestant on “Don’t Forget the Lyrics”. Host Niecy Nash introduced Fletch as a dad of four who will sing along with anything. “He even sings to the beat of the washing machine while he’s doing laundry.” Fletch shocked the world when he supplied the missing words to 8 songs on the first episode of “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.” How many can you get?

Up to this point, Fletch had only used one of the three words he was allowed and he had not needed help from Trey, his backup. Fletch chose to fill in Words 1 and 4. Trey came up and gave him possibles for 2 and 3. The missing 10 words looked like this now:

After those additions, neither Fletch nor Trey had a clue but Fletch tried to fit “said I can’t get no” in the last 5 blanks. Trey assured him that was wrong. If Fletch chose to play the song by locking in those or any other lyrics he could dream up, he stood to lose $125,000. You want to be 99.9% sure with that much money on the line, so Fletch wisely chose to take the $150K he earned from the 8 songs he got right and “hit the road.”

If Fletch had been able to supply the missing “Satisfaction” words, he would have had $250,000 and a shot at Song No. 10 for a million dollars. All the same, Fletch did an awesome job. He had a great voice and a lot of style.
