Supporting Cast of Swing Vote: Ray Donovan

Here are some of the actors who appeared in “Swing Vote”, the sixth episode of Season 3 of Ray Donovan.

Lance Irwin played Henry Sylvester, the “fracking king” of North Dakota, who was looking to outbid Paige Finney (Katie Holmes) for the NFL Team she was dead set on buying. Lena (Katherine Moennig) met his plane at Mission Bay Field in San Diego, introducing herself as “Debbie Harry.” Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber) was waiting in the car to drive him to a motel where he could sleep off the effects of the involuntary drug injection Lena gave him.

David Cubitt played Zack Davis, the current owner of the football team, who said he didn’t really care if it took Sylvester another 10 months to close on the deal. He refused to sell the team to Paige unless she agreed to pay a non-refundable fee of 10% of the purchase price. She agreed.

Stephanie Erb played Helen Miller, Fish & Game. Helen got pretty well sloshed at Governor Tom Verona’s (Skipp Sudduth) election party. She was going to fix “the bird situation” at the field Paige had her eye on for a stadium. In return, Helen would get a case of scotch. Just kidding. Paige told Ray Donovan that Helen would get a promotion to the head of the State Environmental Protection Agency and a job at the Finney Organization in 2 years

Alisha Boe played Janet, a classmate of Bridget Donovan (Kerris Dorsey), who thought you could be stoned and still be a good citizen, citing Seth Rogen as an example. Janet was not so stoned that she didn’t notice that Bridget had a thing for their teacher, Mr. Donellen (Aaron Staton). He later found Bridget in the ladies room, mooning over photos of the late Marvin Gaye Washington. Mr. Donellen sat down on the floor and showed Bridget his phone with photos of his late wife, Sarah.

Gev Kalian played George Markoff, the man who paid his mortgage company instead of paying the Minassians. Whatever consideration he may have gotten from Mickey in Boston, he didn’t get from the Minassians in L.A.

Peter Jacobson made a return appearance as the irrepressible Lee Drexler, Ezra’s former partner and Avi’s (Steven Bauer) current employer. Lee reviewed Ray Donovan’s contract with Paige Finney and suggested that Ray recommend him to the Finneys if they are ever dissatisfied with their legal counsel. Somehow we think Avi will be back with Ray before Lee ever gets any work from the Finneys.

Other notes:

* How hard is Bunchy (Dash Mihok) going to take it when he finds out that Romero (Leland Orser) is a Servant of the Paraclete and made that story up about being abused and killing his abuser?
* When Andrew Finney (Ian McShane) met Abby Donovan (Paula Malcomson) at the election party, he paid her this compliment: “The Beast brings his Beauty.” Later he was totally rude to Abby, commanding her to call Ray and get him back to the party.
* Paige Finney is a big fan of poet Wallace Stevens, one of the 20th century’s best poets and Vice President of the Hartford Insurance Company. “Money is a kind of poetry” is Paige’s favorite line of his. Ours is “The only emperor is the emperor of ice-cream.” Paige needs to get her priorities straight.
