WHAT IS “ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK”?
One asset of the Netflix original series “is Regina Spektor’s original theme song ‘You’ve Got Time,’ which she wrote exclusively for the show’s creator, Jenji Kohan (who also created Weeds). This isn’t the first time the two have collaborated: Spektor covered the Weeds theme song ‘Little Boxes,’ and a few of her other tracks were used in the show. However, this was the first time that Spektor had ever written a theme song from scratch.” (Rolling Stone)
Elan bet $5,000 and finished with $17,200.
Page bet $12,001. That brought her up to $24,401.

I want to wish all posters a very happy and prosperous New Year. Feliz Ano Novo, John!
To Tom, I wish you a healthy year. May you feel your usual self again in no time.
A special THANK YOU to VJ, for her hard work and professionalism.
Eric, happy New Year! I’ve added twitter to my list of resolutions 🙂 🙂

No John, I’m not a fan of “futebol”. Yes, I’ve been to Maracana on several occasions, but not to attend a game 🙂
Cece, you warmed the cockles of my heart with your lovely wish for me — every last cockle!
I do want to point out that my “usual self” was nothing to write home about as it was.
I wish you a happy, successful and healthy year, too. If wishing worked, wouldn’t this be a wonderful world?!
Yeah,if wishing worked this would indeed be a wonderful world. But if it serves to warm the hearts of those we care about, let’s keep wishing…
Thanks for warming mine with your message.
correct dd after a courageous bet, correct fj answer AND bet, over 100 K. the way things have been going he would probably have been already qualified for the ToC after yesterday, but now he is in for sure and on a roll. good start for him (although taped when.. ???) and for us.not to shabby i would say!
btw, netflix trades now for almost 23 times the price when it went public in 2002. the IPO was $15.00 then, currently trading around $ 340.00 per share. not too shabby either. that’s about adding 30% each year to the previous year since 2002. just a little more than your savings account pays you :):)
and although i have not seen today’s show yet, it seems that vaughn is gaining momentum and confidence. a gutsy bet on that dd. those things can always backfire.
so: congratulations all around.i still have not seen a real weakness the way vaughn plays. finally a consistant player who also can do his math and who may go quite far (i hope i didn’t jinx it for him …)
AGAIN,HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!
(and i hope your hangover – if you even had one- is gone by now….??!!)
hopefully this game will be a good omen for the year to come, in ALL areas!
@John, you are definitely watching the game cause you forgot NFLX had a 2:1 stock split in 2004. Split-adjusted its ipo price was about $7.50 which means given its current price it’s trading almost 46 times NFLX’s original price. That is what I call smoking on all cylinders in spite of a down year in 2014. I think that was profit taking though.
sure was,and blockbuster could have bought it for a song, but declined. talk about bad decisions. but in the very beginning things WERE a little shaky. not anymore….
48/59 gotten right for me, the game must not be that hard. FInally a potential competitor for the TofC.
oh he’s in and a POTENT competitor imo from what i have seen so far.
Yes! I got it. Vaughn Winchell is our first 5-time champion and went over the $100,000 mark since Julia Collins.
He now has a spot in the ToC (Tournament of Champions)
Vaughn what a way to start the new year. Great game.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to all fikkle famers!
