Watch O.J. Simpson’s Parole Hearing: July 20, 2017

If you want to watch O.J. Simpson’s parole hearing, the event is scheduled to be televised live on various channels. Simpson will appear via videoconference before the Nevada Board of Parole on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern to determine if he should be released from prison after serving 9 years of his original sentence.

Simpson was convicted of conspiracy, as well as burglary, kidnapping, robbery, assault and coercion (all with the use of a deadly weapons) in October 2008 for an incident that took place a year earlier in Las Vegas. He and several others forcibly stole memorabilia that Simpson claimed belonged to him from two dealers. He was sentenced to a minimum of 9 years and a maximum of 33 years in prison on December 8, 2008, and is currently incarcerated at Lovelock Correctional Facility in Lovelock, Nevada, a medium-security facility.

According to Nevada Appeal, Simpson’s chances of getting paroled are very good: “No one at his Thursday hearing is expected to oppose releasing him in October — not his victim, not even the former prosecutor who persuaded a jury in Las Vegas to convict Simpson in 2008.”

The now 70-year-old former football star is said to have been a model prisoner and he already has been granted parole in July 2013 on some of the charges. He had not yet served the minimum 9 years so he could not be released, but now he has and if the Parole Board finds no fault with the glowing reports of how well behaved he has been, Simpson could be released from prison this coming October.

OJ’s parole hearing is on but it better be over by 3 pm. If I get preempted because of this, I’m going to be so pissed!

So annoying, how long can they drone on?

      • VJ says:

Oh, I’m sure the commentators will keep it going long after the hearing. It’s beyond annoying. OJ can’t even answer a simple question.

    • rhonda says:

At first they said it would be aired on ESPN and I was foolishly hoping that the other channels wouldn’t cover it.

      • VJ says:

Well, there’s hope. ABC switched to regular programming but they are going to break back in when the decision comes down. Meantime, I switched channels and Geraldo is on there saying OJ is a malignant narcissist and won’t be able to stay out of trouble unless he had a brainectomy in prison. lol

Hopefully, they won’t announce a decision until Jeopardy is over where you are. Now I have to hope that it won’t be preempted it when it airs here at 7!

        • VJ says:

They already announced it. He’s getting out.

Who cares what O.J. Simpson thinks and does?

        • VJ says:

Evidently the networks think a lot of people still find him fascinating, probably because of the success of the 2016 FX mini-series. I didn’t watch it but my daughter-in-law did. I found that amusing. She and my son were in their late teens when his murder trial actually took place and they couldn’t have cared less about watching it at the time.

Wow, that was a quick decision.
