Wade, LeBron Lead Miami Heat to Victory in NBA Season Opener

The defending NBA champ Miami Heat picked up where they left off and opened the 2012-13 season with a 120-107 victory over the Boston Celtics.  Dwyane Wade led the Heat in scoring with 29 points and LeBron James added 26.

The newest member of the Heat, longtime Celtic Ray Allen added 19 off the bench.

This rivalry is getting more intense.  The addition of Allen contributes to that intensity.  When he attempted to shake hands with his ex teammates, Kevin Garnett, who is a pretty intense guy himself, refused to acknowledge Allen.  The Celtics’ Rajon Rondo grabbed Wade around the neck as Dwyane drove past Rondo at one point and the two nearly came to blows.

“It was a punk play by him… he clotheslined me with two hands,” fumed Wade. There’s a history of bad blood between the two.

“We’ll see next time we play,” Wade said.

That would be on January 27th.
