Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Makes Major League Debut
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who is generally considered the number one minor league prospect in baseball, made his major league debut for the Toronto Blue Jays on April 26th in Toronto in the Jays’ game against the Oakland Athletics. Vlad’s arrival in the big leagues was only slightly less anticipated than the arrival in theaters of the new Avengers movie.
With his Hall of Fame father Vlad Sr. in the stands, the 20 year old third baseman had some hard hit balls, but nothing to show for it in his first three at bats. Then with score tied in the bottom of the ninth, Vlad led off with his first major league hit, a double down the right field line. He later scored what turned out to be the game winning run on Brandon Drury’s two run home run.
The Jays improved to 12-14 on the season, third in the A.L East.
