USC Has Found a New Quarterback; Routs Louisville in Holiday Bowl

Caleb Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winning quarterback of the USC Trojans, opted to sit out the December 27th Holiday Bowl versus Louisville. No reason was given at the time, but Williams, a junior almost certainly plans on entering the NFL draft.

That turned into an opportunity for redshirt sophomore backup QB Miller Moss to audition for the starter’s role next season, and he made the most of it. Moss completed 23 passes for 372 yards and a Holiday Bowl six touchdown passes, leading USC to a 42-28 thumping of the #15 Cardinals.

While USC coach Lincoln Riley probably won’t publicly name Moss as his starter next season this far out, it would be pretty hard not to do so if he has a decent training camp. Speaking of next season, this was USC’s final game as member of the disintegrating Pac-12 conference. Next season, USC along with fellow Pac-12 expats Washington, Oregon, and UCLA, will be members of the Big 10.
