TV Shows Halt Production Due to COVID-19 Concerns

Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune announced last week that they would no longer be taping in front of live studio audiences as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus (COVID-19). The hosts of those shows are both in the age group that is most at risk to become gravely ill from the virus. Jeopardy! announcer, Johnny Gilbert, is older than both hosts. Alex Trebek, as we know, has been battling pancreatic cancer for over a year now and undergoing chemotherapy, which weakens one’s immune system. Pat Sajak had a health scare last November and underwent emergency surgery.

3/16/2020 — THIS JUST IN: Jeopardy! announced on Twitter that production on Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune will be shut down until further notice. New episodes will continue airing (meaning the ones already taped). An additional tweet says that Season 36 “will continue as planned as soon as we’re back in the studio.”
