Tom Brady is Moving On From the Patriots, Will Reportedly Sign With Buccaneers
In the past, we have seen Colts legend Johnny Unitas in a Chargers uniform, 49ers immortal Joe Montana in a Chiefs uniform, and Packers’ great Brett Favre in a Jets and then Vikings uniform. And now, according to multiple sources, we will have Patriots QB Tom Brady in a Buccaneers uniform.
Perhaps the greatest to player ever in the NFL, Tom Brady spent 20 years in New England, winning six Super Bowls and a string of other awards and honors a mile long. But Brady could not get a contract extension last season, and after the Patriots made a quick one and done exit in the playoffs, it was apparently time for the 43 year old signal caller to move on.
This will certainly be a fresh start, with Brady moving from the AFC to the NFC. He’s only played the Buccaneers four times and is 4-0; two games were in New England and one was in London. The only time he has played at the Bucs’ home at Raymond James Stadium is a 19-14 victory there in 2017. In that game, he also faced the QB he’s replacing, Jameis Winston, who is now a free agent. Brady had been with the Patriots since 2000, and had been the starting QB since 2001. Tampa Bay coach Bruce Arians is only Brady’s second head coach in the NFL; Bill Belichick also began his tenure as head coach of the Patriots in 2000. In case you are wondering, Tampa Bay does not have New England on the schedule in 2020.
