Thunder Push Warriors to Brink of Elimination

The Golden State Warriors hopes for back to back NBA Championships is in serious trouble. After splitting the first two games of their Western Conference Final against the Oklahoma City Thunder, it has been a completely different story in Games 3 and 4.

In Game 3, the Thunder administered an old fashioned butt kicking to the defending champs, beating them 133-105. Then in Game 4 on May 24th, they did it again, winning 118-94. Russell Westbrook led the way with his first triple double of the postseason, and it was awesome: 36 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Kevin Durrant had 26 points and 11 rebounds as every Oklahoma city starter scored in double figures. Stephen Curry was just 6 for 20 shooting, including 2 of 10 from three point range. The official line is that his knee, which he sprained on April 24th, is “fine” or at least “good enough to play”, but he’s just not himself and others are suggesting that he’s only at 70%.

The series returns to Oakland for Game 5 on May 26th. If the Thunder eliminate the Warriors, Oklahoma City would have defeated the teams with the two best records in the NBA. The Thunder beat San Antonio in a semi final to reach the conference final.
