Piers Morgan Asks Evander Holyfield: How is Your Ear?

“I feel very rude about this. I should have asked you this right at the start of the interview,” Piers Morgan told Evander Holyfield on his talk show (8/2/2012), then popped the question: “How is your ear?”

Holyfield said it was good and Piers wanted to know if it actually fell off during the infamous bout where Mike Tyson bit his ear.

“Well, you know, he snagged a piece of it… and he spit it out,” Holyfield replied.

Piers wanted to know what was going through his mind at the moment that he realized Mike Tyson had decided to “eat” his ear in the middle of a fight. Holyfield said he was shocked. Out of all the things that could have happened, he never would have thought it would be that!

Lennox Lewis said he was watching the fight and he was horrified: “You know, we’re gladiators, man. We don’t bite. …from amateur days to pro, we don’t even think about biting. We’re guys that settle it all with our fists, but to be bitten — and, you don’t even know this, but Mike Tyson bit me on the leg, too.

Piers noted that he was the only person in the room who had not been bitten by Mike Tyson.

Lewis elaborated on his incident which happened at a press conference where he wasn’t expecting to get in a fight and was wearing an expensive suit and slippery shoes. So he made a resolution to wear running shoes to press conferences with someone he’s gonna fight.
