Supporting Cast of King of Norway – Boardwalk Empire

Here are some of the actors who appeared in “King of Norway“, Episode 5 of Season 5 of Boardwalk Empire (10/5/2014).

Byron Jennings appears as Dr. Cotton who performs an operation on Charlotte (Erica Fae) that scares Gillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol) into taking steps to get the hell out of there. Terence Winter explains in “Inside the Episode” that Cotton was a real life person who actually believed in removing people’s teeth and internal organs to cure mental illness.

Nisi Sturges returned as June Thompson, Eli’s (Shea Whigham) wife, and she had a big surprise: they are going to have their ninth child very soon. However, Sigrid Mueller (Christiane Seidel) had a big surprise, too, that she revealed right after dinner. She has been taking advantage of a drunken Eli in a most despicable way while her husband Mueller/Van Alden (Michael Shannon) is off making collections for Al Capone (Stephen Graham), and while the children, Abigail and Chester, are at school.

Abigail had already informed June Thompson that Sigrid was not her real mother. She believes her real mother was a ballerina, but it was Lucy Danziger (Paz de la Huerta) who gave birth to Abigail back in Season 2.

This is “The Yodelling Chinaman”, the record Abigail (portrayed by Eva Grace Kellner) got grudging permission from Sigrid to play.

Other notes:

• Tastykake’s Butterscotch Krimpets got a plug when Gillian saved one for Charlotte. Mmmmmm. They were first introduced by Tastykake in 1927.
• Mickey’s joke: I know you can tune a piano, but can you tune a fish?
• Eli can deny knowing Tolliver all he wants, but they found Tolliver’s teeth all over his living room, which is nice to know because we thought Narcisse meant to frame Chalky for that one. The marshalls are looking for Chalky for the killings in the chain gang escape.
• If Eli is so drunk that he doesn’t even know who he had sex with, how is it that he can remember to call Nelson Van Alden “George”?
• Sigrid must have known about Eli’s drinking problem — what has turned her into this destructive harpy from hell?
• Happy to see Daughter Maitland back but not sure if we should be. Richard Harrow didn’t get a happy ending and neither will Chalky.
