Sig Overboard – Celebrity Apprentice

In the first hour of Celebrity Apprentice on 1/26/2015, the teams were tasked with hosting a Circle Line tour of New York City, with a theme. Brandi Glanville was the project manager for Team Infinity (Leeza Gibbons, Ian Ziering, Kenya Moore and Johnny Damon); and Sig Hansen headed up Team Vortex (Geraldo Rivera, Kate Gosselin, Vivica Fox) since this was apparently in his wheelhouse. The guests would be rating the cruises on scorecards and Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump would figure out the winner.

On Vortex, Geraldo wanted to go with a Revolutionary War theme but Kate talked him out of that. She and Vivica suggested a “Love Boat” or “The Greatest Catch” theme, but Geraldo changed the latter to “The Sexiest Catch.” Is it really wise to go with anything Geraldo suggests unless he is the project manager? Whatever, Sig decided that “sex sells” and went with it, complete with gals from Hooters, a move that worried the ladies. Sig had a big old meltdown when the bartenders didn’t show up on time but Kate Gosselin managed to save the moment. Geraldo Rivera was the tour guide, more impressed with himself than impressive, as usual. When he showed off the new World Trade Center, he hollered out “Screw the Terrorists,” and Kate said it was an “oh, crap” moment. Sig thought he pulled it off, especially after the Coast Guard (his charity) sent over a boat to wave at the passengers. If the guests didn’t give them high marks, so be it, Sig thought, even though he’d like to punch them in the teeth.

Infinity started out with a Mardi Gras theme, then switched to “Big Apple Bonanza.” That decision came rather late, but they managed to pull it off, and Leeza Gibbons’ public speaking skills were put to excellent use as the tour guide. There was a lot more dancing and partying over on the Infinity cruise than on Vortex. They even had a conga line and Kenya Moore offered up her song “Gone with the Wind.” It’s all about how fabulous she is. Brandi was fine with that idea just in case they lost. She’d have something to pin it on Kenya.

In the board room, already Trump’s mindset is to fire Sig if Vortex lost just because this task should have been right up his alley, but Sig points out the disadvantage he had with one less team member than Infinity. Even so, he thinks they won. But Brandi thinks Infinity won. They all all stepped up and worked hard. Ian had to point out the late change of theme.

Don, Jr. says the guests scored Infinity high on fun and inclusiveness, although the theme was a bit confusing. Kenya’s performance, they felt, was inappropriate and lacked class. Eric said Vortex scored well on the music and food. Sig was a great host but the guests were put off by Geraldo’s politically polarizing remarks. Many female guests disliked the Hooters girls being there. That made it more for men than family.

Infinity was the winner and Brandi got the prize for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, plus an extra contribution from Circle Line. Brandi sweetly said she felt bad that the Coast Guards didn’t get a donation and asked Trump if he could hook them up. Trump agreed to donate $25K to the Coast Guard.

Kate and Vivica thought the blame for their losing had to fall on Sig as project manager. Sig really had no defense and didn’t even try to put Geraldo on the chopping block for his off the wall speeches. Sig was fired (for the first time in his life) and Geraldo said he would donate another $40K to the Coast Guards.

This is the third task in a row that Vortex has lost and now they are down to three people, something that Leeza Gibbons had already noticed. That means that an Infinity member will be moved in the next task.
