Schwarzenegger Child Injured

In the midst of their divorce, the 13-year-old son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, was seriously injured on Sunday, July 17th on a Mailbu beach, while his horrifed mother looked on. Christopher Schwarzenegger suffered a collapsed lung and multiple broken bones in a surfing accident and remains the Intensive Care Unit, although his parents indicate he will make a full recovery.

Shriver and Schwarzenegger released a joint statement on July 22 that said: “A few days ago our son Christopher suffered an accident at the beach. While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his family and friends. He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery. On behalf of our entire family, we want to sincerely thank the paramedics and lifeguards who responded so swiftly as well as the doctors, nurses, emergency room and hospital staff who have cared for our son. They have been extraordinary to him and to us. We thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and ask for respect and privacy for Christopher and our family.”

Big sister Katherine thanked people on twitter for their support: “Thank you guys for ur concern and prayers for my baby brother! He’s a tough little guy and getting better! Please keep praying for him! Xo.”.

Big brother Patrick tweeted, “Thank you everyone for your messages about my brother. This kid is strongest kid I ever seen. Keep praying.”

Maria Shriver filed for divorce on July 1st to terminate her 25-year marriage to the Terminator.

On July 20th, Schwarenegger responded, asking the court not to award her spousal support, and to make her pay her own legal fees. While that may shock the public conscience when Schwarzenegger has admitted to fathering a child with Patti Baena, a household employee, Maria is suing on “irreconciable differences” grounds, the original no-fault divorce grounds. California was the first state to enact that legislation in 1969.
