Royals Fan Makes Parody Version of Lorde’s “Royals”

Well you knew this was coming.  A  Kansas City Royals fan named John Long has a parody version of Lorde’s Grammy award winning song “Royals” and it’s pretty cool.

Although Lorde’s song “Royals” isn’t about baseball, the 17 year old New Zealander was influenced to write the song after seeing a picture of former Kansas City Royals infielder George Brett in a 1976 issue of National Geographic magazine.  In the photo, the Hall of Famer was in uniform—with “Royals” across the front of the jersey– signing autographs for admiring fans.

Lorde is on tour in the U.S. which included a stop in Kansas City.  Brett couldn’t make it to the concert but he did send her an autographed jersey.  And that’s pretty cool too.
