Rob Gronkowski Ends Retirement, Joins Tom Brady at Tampa Bay
Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, who retired following the 2018-19 NFL season, has ended his one year sabbatical to return to football. Gronk won’t be going back to the Patriots; instead he will be joining his old quarterback Tom Brady as they both enter a new chapter in their careers with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gronkowski and Brady collaborated for three Super Bowl titles in nine years in New England, and the five time Pro Bowl tight end was only interested in coming out of retirement to play in Tampa Bay with Brady. New England traded Gronk and a seventh round draft pick to the Buccaneers for a fourth round draft pick. Gronkowski turns 31 next month, and after a year of R and R, says he’s ready to go. He’ll join wide receivers Chris Godwin (86 receptions, 1333 receiving yards, nine touchdowns in 2019) and MIke Evans (67, 1157, eight TDs) in a potentially very potent Tampa Bay passing attack.
