Rays Start the Baseball Season 10-0

The Tampa Bay Rays are off to the best start of any major league team through the first 10 games. That’s because they have won all 10 of them.

The Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 1-0 on April 10th to get that tenth straight win, the best start for any major league team since the Milwaukee Brewers opened the 1987 season with 13 straight wins. The 1-0 shutout was out of the ordinary for Tampa Bay; in many cases the Rays have been blowing people out. They had a pair 0f 11-0 wins over Oakland and a 12-2 over Detroit. They’ve beaten their opponents by a minimum of four runs in nine of those 10 wins.

The Rays are first in the majors in runs scored, home runs, on base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS. The pitching has been just about as good; the Rays lead the majors in ERA batting average allowed. There’s a long way to go in the season, but games won in April count as much as anytime else on the schedule.
