Ray Liotta on Texas Rising and, of course, Goodfellas

Actor, Ray Liotta, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel last week to talk about his role in the upcoming mini-series “Texas Rising,” but of course, as usually happens with Ray, the talk turned to his iconic performance as Henry Hill in Goodfellas and Ray worked in his famous “You’re a funny guy” line from this scene in reference to Joe Pesci.

A couple of years after that, Ray played a rogue cop in “Unlawful Entry” and then did a couple of comedies: “Corinna, Corinna” with Whoopi Goldberg, Tina Majorino and Don Ameche; and “Operation Dumbo Drop” with Danny Glover and Denis Leary. He played Johnny Depp’s father in “Blow” and even had a role as a school principal in “Hannah Montana.” So while he will forever be identified with his “Goodfellas” role, you can see that he is a very versatile actor and you can’t really say he’s been typecast. But here is the part where he talked about his role as Lorca in “Texas Rising” and Jimmy Kimmel says “You don’t seem like the Western type to me.”

“Texas Rising” is a 5-part miniseries that begins on Memorial Day (May 25th) on the History Channel. Some of actors playing real life figures are Bill Paxton as Sam Houston; Kris Kristofferson as Andrew Jackson; Jeffrey Dean Morgan as “Deaf” Smith; and Olivier Martinez as Santa Anna. Ray Liotta is playing Lorca, a had-to-be-there character who survives the Alamo and is hell-bent on revenge.
