Raptors Beat Celtics As NBA Eastern Conference Race Tightens

The Eastern Conference leading Boston Celtics were in Toronto to take on the Raptors on February 6th, not an easy task considering Toronto entered the game with an NBA best 21-4 home record. The Celtics also came in with a two game lead over Toronto in the Conference standings, so this one was important.

The Raptors continued their home dominance by beating Boston rather easily 111-91. Kyle Lowry led Toronto’s scoring with 23 points, followed by a 20 point off the bench performance by C.J. Miles. Kyrie Irving led Boston with 17.

The Celtics, still an impressive 39-16, have come back down to earth a little bit since starting the season 16-2. The Raptors improved to 37-16, just one game back. The two teams have two more regular season games left against each other, March 31st in Boston and April 4th in Toronto.

Toronto will host the New York Knicks on February 8th. The Knicks’ Kristaps Porzingus suffered a season ending torn ACL in New York’s loss to Milwaukee on February 6th. Porzingus averaged 22.7 points per game, tops on the team, and his loss will end any fleeting hopes the Knicks (23-32) had for making the postseason. Boston’s next game is February 8th in Washington.
