Raiders Sign Charles Woodson for Another Season

At age 38, Charles Woodson is old by NFL standards, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play at a high level any more. In 2014, he led the Oakland Raiders with 113 tackles, and added 4 interceptions.  He also is an important veteran presence in the locker room.  On January 26th, the Raiders signed Woodson to a one year contract extension, bringing him back for an 18th NFL season.

Woodson was drafted by Oakland in 1998, and is on his second stint with the team. He was with the Green Bay Packers from 2006-12, and was on the Packers’ Super Bowl XLV winning team. He was also the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.  He played mostly cornerback at that time, but has since switched to safety where he continues to excel.  The 1998 Heisman trophy winner out of Michigan is the only NFL player to have at least 60 interceptions and 20 sacks in his career.  He’s a certain Hall of Famer when his playing days are over, which doesn’t appear to be anytime soon.
