Pistons Lose 16th Straight Game; Spurs Lose 13th

Back on October 28th, the Detroit Pistons beat the Chicago Bulls 118-102 in their third game of the season, improving their record to 2-1. The Pistons haven’t been above .500 since then, and its increasingly unlikely they won’t get there again this season, even though there are 4 ½ months to go in the 2023-24 regular season.

That’s because the Pistons haven’t won since that October 28th game. On November 30th, Detroit lost to the Knicks in New York by a score of 118-112. That completed a 0-15 November, and adding in a loss on October 30th, Detroit set a franchise record for consecutive losses at 16.

Cade Cunningham, who is actually having a good season for Detroit, led the way for the Pistons with 31 points. The point guard has scored between 20 and 33 points in all but four games, and missed double figures just once. Overall, the roster really isn’t that bad, certainly not 2-17 bad, but here we are.

And speaking of losing streaks, while Detroit was losing its 16th straight the San Antonio Spurs lost their 13th straight, losing to Atlanta 137-135. The Spurs did win once in November, part of a two game sweep on October 31st and November 2nd somehow winning consecutive games at the Phoenix Suns, who are 11-7 overall at the end of November. The Washington Wizards also ended November at 3-15, and the Memphis Grizzlies complete the bottom four of futility at 4-13. The Grizzlies ended November on a high note with a 105-91 win over the Utah Jazz on the 29th. The Jazz lost at Minnesota on the 30th, and enter December at 6-13, which isn’t very good either.

Here’s the highlights of that Knicks-Pistons game. New York was led by Jalen Brunson with 42 points.
