Mikaela Shiffrin Wins Third Straight Slalom World Championship

We are a year away from the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and we would say that the overwhelming favorite already to win the Women’s Slalom is Mikaela Shiffrin of the U.S. On February 18th, Shiffrin won the slalom at the World Championships at St. Moritz, Switzerland . It was her third straight World Championship in the event. That three-peat was last accomplished by German skier Christel Cranz back in 1939.

Shiffrin won the Gold in the Slalom at the Sochi Olympic Games in 2014 at age 18. Look for her to compete in the giant slalom in Pyeongchang as well; she won Silver in the event at St. Moritz, the first time she has medaled in that event at Worlds.
