Memphis Wins 10th Straight; Moves Into Tie for 1st In NBA West

Ja Morant scored 29 points and Desmond Bane added 28—both in just three quarters–as the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Phoenix Suns 136-106 in Memphis on January 16th. Jaren Jackson added 18 and had six blocked shots, while the Suns could only score 18 in the fourth quarter of the blowout.

The win was the 10th straight for Memphis, and the Grizzlies moved into a tie for 1st place in the NBA Western Conference standings with Denver, both at 30-13. The Nuggets were idle on the 16th. The two teams have been more or less equally hot this season. Both are 19-3 at home and 11-10 on the road. Denver has won eight of 10 and is on a six game winning streak. The Nuggets and Grizzlies have two games with each other left on the schedule; at Memphis on February 25th and at Denver March 3rd.
