Klay Thompson Scores 41 Points as Golden State Wins 12th Straight

As the start of the NBA Playoffs approaches, the Golden State Warriors are hitting their stride at just the right time. On April 4th, the Warriors clobbered the Minnesota Timberwolves 121-107 in Oakland behind Klay Thompson’s 41 point performance. It was Thompson’s second best output of the season behind the monster 60 point game he had back on December 5th against the Indiana Pacers. The Warriors improved to 64-14.

The victory was Golden State’s 12th straight. The Warriors occupy the Western Conference’s top seed for the playoffs, but without this winning streak, the San Antonio Spurs might be in that position. The tenacious Spurs (60-17) beat Memphis 95-89 on April 4th for their eighth win in their last nine games. San Antonio is 3 ½ games behind Golden State, but with just five games left for the Spurs and four for the Warriors, time is just about up. Ominously for the rest of the competition, the Warriors put together this winning streak without Kevin Durant, who suffered a knee injury February 28th. Durant, averaging 25.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game, is expected back in the next week or so and should be ready for the playoffs.
