Lindsey Vonn Wins Two More Skiing Titles
Lindsey Vonn continued her hot year on the slopes with two season titles in two events over the weekend of February 18-19 in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia. That’s the location where the alpine events will take place in the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
Vonn finished third in the downhill, but that gave her a 251 point lead in the standings in the event. There are just two more downhills on the World Cup schedule, and with each first place finish worth 100 points, she has won the crown for the fifth straight year. She also won her third straight title in the Super Combined after the event was cancelled due to poor course conditions. The event will not be made up, and that makes Lindsey the champion.
Lindsey now has a 478 point lead in the overall World Cup standings and is a great position to win her fourth overall World Cup title in the last five years. Hopefully, her momentum will continue the next two years into those 2014 Olympics.
