Lightning beat Flyers for 10th Straight Victory

The hottest team in the NHL right now is also one of the best. The Tampa Bay Lighting beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 in Tampa on February 15th for their 10th straight victory. It was also a franchise record 11th straight home win.

Andrei Vasilevskiy had 30 saves for the Lightning and improved to 32-9-3 with a 2.42 goals against average. He’s a scorching 19-0-2 in his last 21 starts. The Lightning got off to a 3-0 lead, but the Flyers fought back and got to within one at 4-3 in the third period. Nikita Kucherov scored an empty net goal with seconds remaining to seal the victory for Tampa Bay.

With the win, the Lightning improved to 39-15-5 (83 points). That’s the second most points in the NHL, but unfortunately for the Lightning, their division and conference rival Boston Bruins have been almost as hot (winning 9 of 10) and sit atop the Eastern Conference with 86 points after beating the New York Rangers 3-1 on February 16th.
