Lakers Beat Nuggets and Return to the NBA Finals for the 1st Time in 10 Years

LeBron James had a triple double to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 117-107 victory over the Denver Nuggets on September 26th. The Lakers won the series 4-1 to advance to their first NBA Finals since 2010.

James scored 38 points, had 16 rebounds, and 10 assists. This will be James’ 10th NBA Finals, and the Lakers are his third team in the Finals (Miami and Cleveland are the others). But while James is the unquestioned leader of the Lakers, he didn’t get them to where they are by himself. The addition of Anthony Davis, who scored 27 points in the clincher over Denver, has been the missing piece to the puzzle. To win titles in the NBA, a team generally has to have a decent overall roster of course (which the Lakers do have) but it usually also takes two playmaker/franchise caliber players working together to bring championships home.

The Lakers will play the winner of the Miami Heat–Boston Celtics Eastern Conference final. The NBA Finals will begin September 30th.
