Justin Bieber Hates School?

Everybody got riled up this past week when teen idol, Justin Bieber, told Vanessa Grigoriadis that “everything happens for a reason” when she asked him about abortion in his Rolling Stone interview (March 3 issue). Bieber wasn’t talking about abortion happening for a reason. He had already told her that he was against abortion. Then she asked him if it was wrong in the case of rape.

Here’s how that went down:

“He’s definitely against abortion, too. ‘I really don’t believe in abortion,’ he says. ‘I think [an embryo] is a human. It’s like killing a baby.’ Even in the case of rape? ‘Um,’ he says, ‘Well, I think that’s just really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason.’ He looks confused. ‘I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.'”

Everybody from Joy Behar on the View and her talk show to the New York Times has got on this. We like the title of the NY Times article “Twilight of the Teen Idol.” LOL. It’s almost as though they wish Justin Bieber would take a dive.

Jon Caramanica does think this could be the beginning of the end for the Biebs:

“The trick of pop success is to achieve a conspiratorial bond with fans, to assert that you speak the same language as they do, even — or especially — when others can’t understand. By taking a stand against abortion, Mr. Bieber risks finding out how frail and tenuous that bond might be.”

In the Rolling Stone article, Justin Bieber also told Vanessa G that he is a Christian and assured himself that she was too before he opened up about anything. In that light, it is pretty simple to understand why Justin would say “everything happens for a reason.” Millions of Christians believe that when personal hardships and catastrophic events occur, it is a part of God’s larger plan which they cannot understand.

So, we didn’t think that Justin Bieber was saying anything more there than what his faith dictates he should believe.

But how about him saying he hates school? Say what? He doesn’t even go to a real school, does he? He starts out driving Vanessa G (with his bodyguard in the back) to an Atlanta IHOP at 11 a.m. for this interview, and says:

“‘See, it’s 11 a.m. now so there’s old people in the IHOP,’ he says, ‘Come here after four, it’s a different story, but now all the kids are in school. All these people are, like, grandmothers. If you had moms in here…it would be bad. The moms are the worst.”

So, obviously, he must have a tutor and must get his schooling when it can be fit into his busy little life. When most parents want their kids to not only finish high school but go on to college, we think Bieber shouldn’t be dissing school.

But we’re not saying that his ‘hate school’ comment will cause his current popularity to plummet dramatically or even at all. Our prediction on that has nothing to do with anything the boy wonder may or may not say in an interview. We think his fan base will drastically dwindle as his adoring fans grow taller than him, or someone cuter comes along.

Ask any former teen idol, fans are fikkle!

In the meantime, Justin, about those awful moms — they’re the ones who are really shelling out that dough you’re raking in, so you should totally watch your mouth, and show a little more respect for your fans’ moms.
