John Axford 2014 Oscar Picks: 18 for 18!

If you place bets on the Oscar winners, make sure you check out Cleveland Indians reliever John Axford’s picks before next year’s Academy Awards show.  Axford, in his first year with Cleveland after pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers and St. Louis Cardinals in 2013, has a degree in film, television, and theater from Notre Dame, and he knows his stuff, at least when it comes to picking some winners.

Axford has been tweeting his picks for a few years now, and while he hasn’t picked award winners in all 24 Oscar categories (leaving out some of the more technical awards), he’s been adding some picks as time goes on.  In 2011, he picked 11 of 13 correctly; in 2012 he was 11 for 15.  Last year, he was nearly perfect, going 14 out of 15, missing only on Best Director.

This year, Axford expanded his picks to 18 awards, and he out did himself by going a perfect 18 for 18.  John was tweeting his success record and when it got to 18, he tweeted: “WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 18 for 18! #Oscars”

He followed that up with: “I’m pretty sure this means I have to do all 24 categories next year! #Oscars #18for18”
