Jeopardy! All-Star Game Lineups

In case you missed the live All Star draft on Facebook (9/22/2018), take heart! Jeopardy! will post the video on its FACEBOOK PAGE. Despite buffering and having to refresh the page a couple of times (not to mention the racket going on here), I got the lineups.

First, let’s congratulate Buzzy who is about to become a father for the second time. His wife is 2 days past her due date so Buzzy was the only one in the studio who didn’t have his cell phone in airplane mode. Buzzy said that his wife is considering naming the baby “Austin” after her favorite Jeopardy! contestant– meaning himself. 😀

The Team Captains came out one by one in alphabetical order to choose cards that would determine what order they got to choose teammates. The snake format was used: whoever got 1st pick also got last and so on. Here we go:

TEAM BUZZY COHEN: (1) ALEX JACOB & (12) JENNIFER GILES

TEAM BRAD RUTTER: (6) LARISSA KELLY (7) DAVE MADDEN

It just would not be a Jeopardy! event without humor. Some highlights:

• Alan Lin said he was there to beat Buzzy and Austin when he was introduced. So Alex Trebek said that Team Colby had the “element of revenge,” and Pam Mueller copped to wanting to take Roger Craig down.
• Seth Wilson told the captains that he would let the one who picked him borrow his jacket.
• Alex Trebek told Roger Craig that he was noted for his “methodology” of making wild bets on Daily Doubles and asked if that was to put pressure on the other players. Roger said it was his “shtick” but he allowed it might put pressure on the other players (OR NOT!!)
  
• Austin Rogers referred to his unpredictable behavior as “calculated insanity.”
• When Matt Jackson was introduced, he said he was happy to be back with “almost all of you.” At first that sounded ominous but we’re sure he meant that he was meeting some All Stars for the first time.
• Beards will be represented in the tournament (in heavy to light order) by Seth Wilson, Brad Rutter & Alex Jacob, unless they follow Trebek’s example and shave them off before January. Conversely, Trebek could grow his back by then so he can root for the beards.

I think it was a foregone conclusion that whoever got to pick first would choose Alex Jacob. That resulted in yours truly getting at least one of my Fantasy Team picks right.
