Jane Velez-Mitchell on Charlie Sheen, Among Others
Jane Velez-Mitchell appeared on The Joy Behar Show AND Entertainment Tonight, along with her book “Addict Nation,” to provide commentary on Charlie Sheen and his alleged raging addiction.
If you have ever seen Jane on her show and then on someone else’s show, she doesn’t talk in that Nancy Grace sensational news style when she’s a guest, which is always a great relief. But, anyhow, Jane claims that we are becoming a nation of addicts to not just alcohol, drugs and prescription medication, but fast food, the internet, gambling, porn, social networks and we are all just a bunch of suckers for manipulative marketing, except for the brains behind these evil schemes, and they are the “pushers.”
Most amusing, when you consider how Jane deliberately sensationalizes everything she reports to play to that segment of society that loves tabloid journalism. As their resident recovering alcoholic, Jane is always called upon on the HLN Network when someone’s drug or alcohol problems pop up.
Just the notion that if you have successfully beaten an addiction, you are now an “expert” who can tell people that you don’t even know what they should do is a dupe in and of itself.
Danny Bonaduce is another one and yes, he was there too. In sharp contrast to his vehement pronouncements that Lindsay Lohan should be thrown in jail when that was going on, Bonaduce seemingly defended Sheen, saying Charlie is just a drunk who likes porn stars.
Whoopi Goldberg chimed in on “The View” and is being applauded for her candor, bravery and honesty in revealing how she hit rock bottom when she was a functioning drug addict. She thought there was something under the bed so she wouldn’t get up, even to go to the bathroom, for 5 days. We don’t know about brave, but it’s a lot more candid than we care to visualize. Cheese and crackers, if Whoopi had just left out the pee and poop parts, it would have never crossed our minds.
Sheen’s doctor, Paul Nassif, who we presume at least can write a prescription if Charlie gets the shakes, did a complete 180 from his 911 call, now going so far as to say that he has never seen Charlie Sheen, who is his friend, high or drunk and that Sheen is an excellent father, with nary a hint of problems.
Guess the good doctor missed the episode where Charlie went ballistic in the hotel room with a hooker, while his children were on the very same floor in another room with his ex-wife, who had to accompany him to the hospital.
