J.J. Watt Scores Hockey Goal and Gets Sack Over the Weekend
Houston Texans All Universe defensive end J.J. Watt had a busy last weekend of June. On June 26th, Watt was a surprise guest at a the Blake Geoffrion Hockey Classic, a charity event on the campus of Watt’s old school, the University of Wisconsin. Blake Geoffrion is the son of former NHL player Dan Geoffrion, who played for three NHL teams in the late 70s to early 80s, the grandson of Bernie Geoffrion who played for 16 years in the NHL with Montreal and the New York Rangers in the 50s and 60s, and the great grandson of Howie Morenz, who spent 14 seasons in the NHL in the 1920s and 30s. Blake had an outstanding college hockey career at Wisconsin but his NHL playing career lasted just 67 games before head injuries ended it.
Geoffrion gathers former Badger players, including some now in the NHL, for his charity event, and Watt took to the ice for a penalty shot type of thing (we can just imagine the reaction from the Texans coaches and front office people if the best defensive player in the NFL played in even an informal hockey game and got injured). Watt actually played high school hockey, so he knows how to skate. Here he is taking a shot on goal against former Badger and current St. Louis Blues goalie Brian Elliot.
Then on June 28th, Watt was at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, a giant multi day music festival. Watt took in the Zac Brown Band concert that evening, and took out some guy who decided to get on stage and dance.
There’s speculation that the whole thing was staged, but whether it was or not, it was awesome.

That goalie had rolled into the cheap seats. Ridiculous.
