Nice detective work there, Sgt. VJ!
Within the last 3 wks, I used the “World Capital Closest to Antarctica” question for my trivia test, and I would have bet big $$$ that I got that from an episode of the BETS. Hmmm… (Maybe it came from a rerun of “The Chase”. I DVR those and re-watch sometimes just for yuks & grins.)
I LOVE “THE THREE” category! I’ll use (or slightly “rework”) a few of those for future use.šŸ˜Ž

  2. VJ says:

@Jacob, I bet that Company category was right up your alley,

I was hoping that Whit would pick Vikings in the last category šŸ˜

    • Jacob ska says:

@VJ, unfortunately I missed the 1st round. We had just got in the house for round 2. Wouldn’t you know they would have a category in my wheelhouse when I was out and about. šŸ˜£

Thank goodness for your recap. I forgot to DVR the show. Btw, I don’t think any contestant has defeated Jonathan yet. Has he been in the final round before?

      • VJ says:

I only found one other game with Jonathan in the last round (on 6/14/2019). He got the last question right but the contestant didn’t. I’m not counting this one as a win for Jonathan anyhow.

I was super surprised on the Antarctica question. I said “c’mon, everyone knows that.” Then they both blew it and I said “except them.” šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

        • Jacob ska says:

Thanks VJ. Didn’t Jonathan beat the other 2 experts to get to the final round against the contestant today? Perhaps I’m confused since I tuned in late to the show. Btw, that Antarctica clue is a Jeopardy favorite I think.

        • VJ says:

Yes, he did indeed beat the other two experts in order to be the expert in the Ultimate Trivia Challenge. Makes you wonder what the others got wrong, considering that Jonathan missed 2 in the first round.

        • JJ says:

Re: the question asking which country was closest to Antarctica and both players going w/ New Zealand, wasnā€™t there a question on this show earlier in the season that asked ā€œWhat is the southernmost capital city in the world?ā€, and the answer was ā€œWellingtonā€ (New Zealandā€™s capital), Iā€™m wondering if thatā€™s what stirred them off the path of answering it correctly?!

        • VJ says:

JJ, there have been clues on Wellington being the southernmost capital but I didn’t find anything very recent on J-Archive for it. Here’s the most recent I found:

2-29-2018: ISLAND NATIONS ($1200) This capital of an island nation is at the extreme south of North Island

Here’s a much earlier one on Chile:

11-30-2012: IT’S CHILE IN HERE ($400) This cape, the southernmost point of Chile & of South America, is only about 600 miles from Antarctica

Check out this category THE THREE in the last round of the game from 12/25/2002. There’s a clue about the 3 countries closest to Antarctica. The only clue they got right was Pittsburgh’s three rivers
